Who we are
Science Inside Out (“SIO”) is a small, woman-owned business offering outdoor science classes to homeschool families (primarily grades K–6).

Information we collect
- Registration details: parent/guardian name, email, phone; student name/grade; emergency contact; allergies/medical notes you choose to share.
- Files you upload: signed waivers or consent forms (PDF).
- Communications: emails or messages you send us; your responses to our forms.
- Website usage: basic logs/aggregated analytics collected by our web host (e.g., traffic counts, error logs). We do not run ads or sell data.
How we collect and store data
- Online forms: Google Forms (responses stored in Google Drive/Sheets under our account).
- Email: [Gmail/Google Workspace] for inbound/outbound communication.
- Website hosting: WordPress.com/our host may capture basic operational data (e.g., logs).
- Payments: We accept payment outside the website (e.g., Zelle, Venmo, or check). We do not collect or store payment card numbers on our site.
How we use information
- Register students, manage rosters, coordinate schedules/updates, and communicate with families.
- Maintain safety records, including emergency contacts and waivers.
- If you consent to photo/media use, we may use images for class communications and promotion.
- Improve our website and offerings (aggregated, non-identifying usage insights).
Photo / Media consent
Photo/media use is optional. Your waiver includes a Yes/No choice. You can change your preference anytime by emailing us at ceri@scienceinsideout.org. We do not post student names without additional permission.
Children’s information
Our programs serve minors, and registration information is provided by a parent/guardian. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children without parental consent. Parents/guardians may request access, correction, or deletion of their child’s information (subject to legal and record-keeping needs).
Sharing
We share data only with:
- Service providers we use to operate (e.g., Google for Forms/Drive/Email; our website host) and
- When required by law.
We do not sell personal information.
Retention
- Registration and waiver records: kept as long as reasonably necessary for program operations and legal requirements, then deleted or archived securely.
- Routine communications: kept as long as needed to manage our relationship.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information (account access controls, staff-only access to rosters/waivers). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Cookies & analytics
Our site may use basic functional cookies and aggregated analytics through our host to keep the site working and understand visits at a high level. You can set your browser to block cookies, but parts of the site may not function.
Your choices & rights
- Access/Correct/Delete: Email ceri@scienceinsideout.org to request access, correction, or deletion of your/your child’s info (subject to legal/record-keeping needs).
- Withdraw consent: Update photo/media consent any time via email.
